A Sad, Sad Story

Our daughter lives in Castle Rock, near Denver, Co.

A couple of weeks ago, the neighbors asked her to take care of their dog as they were going on a vacation to Mesa Verde. By coincidence, I was visiting there when the father returned and picked up the dog and left a small gift for our daughter.

In a couple of days, the cops were coming around asking if anyone had seen those folks. Our daughter was the last person to have seen them. Both had jobs and the daughter was attending school, All were missing and no one had any idea where they had gone.

A couple of days ago, they found their dog which had been abandoned in a park across town.

Yesterday, a rancher in Eastern Colorado about 15 miles from our ranch found their pickup truck. Both of the women had been shot to death. About 100 feet away, in a ravine, they found the father, also shot. Apparently it was a double murder and suicide.

Daughter and her three boys are taking it hard. They had only moved in a couple of months ago and were having financial problems. Looks like they took a permanent solution to a temporary problem.

OH NO!! That is so tragic. I cannot imagine taking your life and/or
someone elses. Those poor people and the rest of the family.

We had a very dear friend that committed suicide and after the father
talked with us, I understood better the pain that causes this decision. He explained that it was like looking through the wrong end of a pair of
binoculars. You don't see anything but the problem. Nothing else exists
and the pain is unbearable. Hard to imagine, but that is the best explanation I have ever heard.

I am so sorry. Please give our condolences to your daughter.

So much pain in this old world.

One of my best friends youngest son shot himslef this summer..
He was drug dependant on meth....... The community trying to understand, came to the conclusion that he knew he couldn't live on meth or live without it...

I am sorry for your daughter Please try and explain to her there is nothing she could have done. She is not to blame for not stopping them. By that time the decision had been made.
I can fully understand the feeling of the father...unless you have had to tell your child "sorry I dont have money to get milk for cereal" you can not grasp the depth of hopelessness. I thought I could but was I ever wrong.
I have 2 people telling me to quite whinning......what they dont understand is I cant see the light at the end of the tunnel. they keep telling me it will get better. I need to just suck it up . If I talk about it it eases some but it is getting harder. Yes I know I do have a roof over my head and a full time job starting on the 21st but between now and the date I get paid is more than a month away. How do you make $30 last over a month?
I know some will say I am whinning and I am sorry, or some will say I am weak. I know if I dont talk about it I will hold it in and thats when the feelings get worse.

cowpuncher----I had been following this story on the denver news channel (all we can get on Satellite) and it has simply broke my heart!! Someone has to be very afraid and see absolutely NO way out to take his own life, much less those lives of his loved ones!! How very, very sad! Prayers to your daughter!!!

Just a follow-up.

I was visiting my daughter's family when the man returned to claim his dog. Apparently, his wife and stepdaughter were alreadydead and he was planning to disappear.

The bodies were wrapped (probably in blankets) and put into their pickup truck. He drove about 110 miles to a place near our ranch, poured an accelerant on the wrapped bodies and set them afire. Later, he walked about 40 yards away and shot himself.

How the ladies died is as yet unknown. They had been burned and sitting out in the hot sun for about a week. Daughter is taking it pretty had, expecially about the 14 year old girl.

Still some loose ends. Their second card, some sort of SUV has not been located and no one saw the truck burning. This is pretty flat country and any smoke really gets noticed due to prairie fires.

MsSage.....If you need help please let us know on ranchers.net and we will take up a collection to get you through this hard spot. Please let us all know.

Thank you for the offers. The kind words and compassion have shown me that I had become turned around and couldnt see the light starting to dawn.
I have started to get my hope back and I know it will get better. Now I need to pick my camera back up and start finding the beauty around me.
Thank you
Pamela

If you need someone to spout off at, just send me a pm.

I know what it is like to think that nothing can get better. But it always does. :)
