Started the week Sunday moring by A.I.'n a cow. Thought i'd try screwing up my bunch at a much faster rate! :D I wonder if the cow thought the same thing people do when the Doc starts putting on the glove? :???:

Your gonna do what? Just turn out the bull! We'll both enjoy that more than some idiot who took a 3 day class and thinks he knows what he's doing!

Here's a shot of our 4 room school house. The kids go here from kindergarten til 6 grade. Then they get on the bus and head to town. My Grandpa went to this same school for 3 grades.

From left to right; Gerrit (who likes little H quite a bit! :D ), Little H, Sahvanna, and Littlest H. Flat Stanley is there somewhere too!

This mornin' our last cow calved. She and some cows of a friend made an escape last spring out of a leased pasture and went high on the mountain. They just forgot to take the bull with them. Littlest H has claimed the cow as his own and named his new heifer calf "jellybean"! Inspecting his "herd"!

Don't chew with your mouth open ma!

Our bull likes his back, face, neck scratched. When i water and chore he begs for some scratching. The other night i was bored so while scratching him i decided to see what he'd do if i crawled on. Nothing except stretch his neck out and beg for more help with his itches. My wife didnt believe me so tonigh i showed her! :P I stayed on a good 6 seconds!

A feller who wintered too good and a bull who likes his scratching. :D

Spring must be here as we are in the midst of a bumper crop of chicks!

Little H checking to see if we washed out a goldfish when the trough got too full while some joker was reliving the days of glory by riding bulls!

And one last picture of the sun shinin' through what is going to be a spring storm. We attened a funeral for my best friend and cousin's (who runs the cows on my Grandad's permit) Mother today. She was a fine lady who raised a wonderful family, served her church and community and always had a smile. She'd been struggling with her health for a decade. Although tears were shed and grief was felt, everyone there knows she is free from pain and back home with her Heavenly Father and Savior! This picture brought the whole day to a great close. Cause through the storm clouds and darkness is always the light shining the way! And welcome rain to quench the desert soil and wash away the tears! May he bless ya'll and watch over all you do where ever you may roam! :D

Nice pics H. By the look on your face in bull pic, he was either mashing your leg in the chute or you were anticipating was about to happen..either way, ya gotta' let go of the fence. :D

I was thinking....... I am to old for this stuff! :D The bull filed a greivance with the union for me greatly exceeding the weight limit! I hope i didnt ruin him for covering all the cows I missed with A.I.!

you know 'h, the hardest part of AI'ing is getting the cow to turn her head for a kiss  thanks for the tour!!

Cal, the A.I. is going well. No trouble finding the cervix or threading it and pushing the plunger. Now it's up to the cow!

Jassy, I didnt have too! Their mom was laying down the law and telling me if i hurt myself she'd kill me all at the same time. The kids know better even if dad doesn't!

You go MOM!...thanks

Good pics.
I see you putting on that glove and wonder if they taught you the baby powder trick at AI school?
Keep a bottle of baby powder and blast a little shot into the glove before you put it on. It keeps it from sticking to your hands if it is warm out and you get sweaty, plus it smells purty (I don't use that trick - we have enough baby powder in our house right now LOL)

Loved the pics....brought back fond memories of a Charlois bull we had when I was about 3 years old. I was skeered to death of that bull. He'd ram the suckerod fence ever time I walked past. (And of course mama had me dressed in red alllll the time so I thought it was her fault) But dad would climb the fence and sit on that bull, and curry him, and scratch him.

Even at 3 years old....I thought dad was nuts!!!!

Thanx for the picture story L H,yall keep that lil school lookin pretty sharp, nuthin like the ole unpainted thing I spent 6 years in,bout all the schoolin i could tolerate :D
good luck
PS Careful around that ole tame bull, especially in a muddy pen where you caint get any boot traction.

The chicken herd is made up of only the finest mongrel, inbred chicks that money can buy! Their hatchings ease and mcnugget-weights EPDS are off the charts! Strait run meatbirds from McMurray's! And none were concieved with A.I.! Atleast by me! Tonight that nice "tame" bull ran me out'a the corral when i had to get in with him to grab a wayward feed sack! Lucky for me I am still pretty fast when I'm scared! I would love to break out the glove and spurs and ride a few more bulls but I enjoy being married and alive and my sweet wife would cancel both activitys if i tryed it!

I'd almost forgot about McMurrays hatchery  For years we ordered in hundreds of chicks, pheasants, wild turkeys...Post Office would call about 4AM to pick up chicks-- and the whole post office was chirping....
Quit when we lost the chicken plucking crew thru graduation- and the old chicken house was getting in bad shape... This year the wind took it down so we have a good excuse to never have another bird on the place--and I'm even using the wood for windbreaks so nobody will get the idea to build another chicken house..
