My grandparents always had Herefords..They're both gone now, but my g-ma gave me the brand before she passed away. So to honor them and to keep the brand alive, (which hasn't been used in years) I decided to buy 2 bred heifers to put my brand on. With the help of my ranchersnet friends, I ended up in South Dakota to meet and buy from Doug T.. Thanks Doug & Hannah for showing us around your ranch, and taking the time out to work with me on getting these heifers. I know they'll do just fine for me. Thanks to the internet, I have met yet another "rancher" from here!

That should be really neat to have herefords back on your ranch wearing your grandparents brand.
How is the Wildcat doing ?

Sorry it took a while to respond, but the internet was down most of the day.

Thanks for coming Jassy and you did a great job of picking great heifers. I hope they work out well for you and the ranch will have herefords with Grandpa's brand on it for years to come.

The brand they wear from here is my Grandpa's brand and there may be better brands from a practical standpoint, there is no other brand I would want to stamp on every spring. My Grandpa died when I was 6 months old but I have his spurs and his brand along with 1/2 of his land(cousin owns the rest) so that is my connection, every spring I brand calves with his brand and turn them out onto land he owned. My Dad did a great job in telling stories about him so I feel like I know him. Sentimental journey on both sides!

Well Doug, I didn't know that..(or did I miss that in conversation) that the brand is your g-pa's...that just seals the deal for me...From one generation to another through brands and cattle...Thanks for that...

Was thinking this morning it's probably better you took a "Sentimental" journey rather then a Simmental journey.

my thoughts aswell.

There's just nothing sadder than seeing a sentimental Simmental.

Not even a heavy hearted Highland?

Or possibly an anguished Angus?
