"The Great Sams Valley Turkey Hunt"

This short, story will be written from the "great hunter's perspective". Although, I am thinking seriously of doing it from the turkey's perspective, the one with feathers

Hi, my name's Derrell, and this is my other brother derrell(whoops, wrong story, sorry). Hi, my name is Derrell, and I live in Sams Valley Oregon with my lovely wife Edie. One day before she retired, and I was already enjoying the good life, I spyed a herd of turkeys(I think herd, don't flocks fly, ah yes, turkeys can fly, nevermind). I hurried to get my bow and arrows. I took my 6'3", 240 lb body and crept out to find a good vantage point. I squeezed my large frame amongst some bushes to "lie in wait" for the turkey herd to come by. I had my bow and arrow ready. As I was about to raise it into position, and………what the hell?? I never knew a turkey could travel that fast. He was by me and long gone before I could even raise my bow. Well, not to be discouraged as I did say there was a "herd". Ok, so again, my bow is ready and my aim is true, in my dreams. Ahhhhh, and here comes another, only going about 50 miles an hour, but Im ready for'em! I draw back my bow, and………..what the hell?? I can't draw it back as my elbow has met with "a great wall of foliage". Curses, foiled again! But the Great Turkey Hunter of Sams Valley doesn't give up! It ain't over til it's over! So, after repositioning myself in a more "stategic" spot, here comes another! And he's a big'un by golly! The Lord always saves the best for last! So I lift up my trusty bow, Im following him with my "dead-eye" aim, and……. what the hell?? A tree, where did that tree come from?? He's gone behind it. Ok, so this is NOT a problem. I will just wait, and when he emerges the other side, swhoooooooosh!! Turkey dinner!! Did I mention I am going to wait? Yes, Im still waiting, 1 moment, 2, 3, my arm is starting to weaken, Im starting to see double, but still I wait, I am strong, I am invincible, I am The Great Sams Valley Turkey Hunter! What is that turkey doing behind that tree, :???: Doesn't he know Im waiting, watching, my arm is killing me and the bow is screaming "Please Release Me, Let Me Go"! And then, at long last, it happens, he finally appears, and……..what the hell?? He appears alright, about 50 feet out of range, down beyond the tree and about 1 inch from slipping into the trees and bushes. I can still here his taunting "gobble" even today.

I gathered up my bow and arrow and decided on tuna-casserole for dinner. Edie enjoyed it.

The End
