A Thief and a Skinning
Heifer had a calf few weeks ago, she didn't have much milk, her calf we see stealing from the other heifer mommas. Well, we feeding pairs look at the 5 droppers and see a new calf, not moving. Well, it a big old purebred cow Tenny had bought years ago as a heifer, she never really been a good cow, and she was just a licking the dead calf. We sledded the calf to the corral with mom falling. We skinned her calf, got the thief in and got the cow in the chute didn't take much to get the calf to suckle. Put them in a barn and gave the thief a new coat with a tail. Mom thinking well it smells like mine.

🤔 Didn't know you were supposed to keep the tail. My grafts were all bobtailed.
That is to insure she knows it is her calf. They always smell the tail end. People do other ways, but this is the most sure way that the grafting will take. And quicker. The worse part of it is skinning the dead calf.
