I saw an advertisement for guest ranch help. They required upbeat people that could tell good stories and be helpful to the guests. The weird part was that they said that the help would not be permitted to "tease" the guests...Huh??? Do you think they had previously hired a bunch of young whippersnappers who would dangle steaks in front of the guests and then take em away? really got me to thinkin :roll:
 
Oh, probably don't want them laughing too much when people have a hard time getting on a horse or ssomething... Maybe some of the old help would tease the guests after hours amongst themselves and the managers found that unprofssional or something.. Who knows...
 
You mean not like we used to do with some of the folks at the rodeos on the east coast when they asked how did you get here from Montana--"well Mam the first 300 miles thru the Dakotas is by stagecoach- then we could catch a train from there and once we got to Chicago they have roads and airports" :wink: :lol: And I think half them believed us :shock:
 
Our ex SIN law worked for an outfit in Banff this summer guiding rides for tourists.Most of these tourists were Japanese.He said his employer told them no teasing or making fun of the customers...but he said the same didn't go for the customers. He said if he heard ONE MORE TIME a little Japanese guy say to him"Ha,Ha,you brokeback mountain cowboy"he was going to wage WW3.....lol
 
Yup...the reference to 'Brokeback' is exactly what that guest-ranch manager/owner was referring to. It might surprise some of you to see what the 'suburbia types' think of cowboys these days...
 
I suppose you long for the good old days....where people thought cowboys did it with their horse, not other cowboys.
 
A more perfect case of "Damned if we do, damned if we don't" I've yet to have heard of...
