Pretty fair for an Alabama Muslim. If he was playing with someone else, or at least playing against better teams, he'd be a shoe in for the Heisman.

OR sitting on the bench.

Could be. But my point is, there aren't any national competitors on the whole schedule except for MAYBE Michigan State. And there are probably 10 SEC teams that would wear them out. I know Oregon did.

He's the big fish in a little pond.

He also moved up to #3 today on NFL.com's Heisman Watch list.

Haters gonna hate.

I truly wish him all the best. But to win the Heisman nowdays you have to have that one breakout game on national TV.

Dak Prescott at Mississippi State will have several more such big games. If he shines against Alabama, Arkansas, and/or Ole Miss, it's a done deal.

We've got Iowa, Wisconsin, and Minnesota coming up. No cakewalks there.

What? They're not even ranked????????  Might as well be Div II schools.

Plus, the pundits want Mariota to win it. Because he engineered the win over the Mighty Manly Michigan State Spartans.........................

Time will tell.

When you're ranked near or at the top, there's generally only one way to go. Ric Flair lost the Heavyweight Title 16 times (officially).

So tell us all about the MildCat's Heisman hopeful. I'd like to hear about him.

Oh, that's right. They don't have one.
Haters gotta hate.

no Heisman hopefuls at KSU, but we also don't have self proclaimed greatest fans making arses out of them selves daily either....

Waters at KSU is much better than the Jameis Winston thug at Florida State. On and Off the field.
The Heisman nowdays is given for media perception.

Though I can't say I am thrilled at his religion, I don't think you could find anybody, on or off the field, who defines the description of student athlete better than Ameer. He's not only an exceptional athlete and student, he's an exceptional human being. The daughters are well acquainted with him and Kenny Bell (fear the fro), and speak very highly of them as being just good people.

This one could give him a good run. BTW he's already working on his PhD.

OXFORD, Miss. -- Deterrian "D.T." Shackelford sat in one of the Ole Miss football offices Monday and talked about all the things he had done since he arrived at Ole Miss in 2009. He also talked about all the things he still wanted to do.

Shackelford, a rare sixth-year senior, has already received his undergraduate degree in liberal arts and his Master's degree in higher education. He's been on mission trips to Panama and Haiti. He eventually wants to get his Ph.D. and become a college athletic director, but not before he tries his luck in the NFL.

"There's a lot of different stuff I want to do, but I do still want to put on my cleats," the veteran linebacker said with a laugh.
