Was cutting some 2nd crop next to the road yesterday when the cow herder came down the road from the forest. He told me where to go look up on Jensen creek on the forest. Well I ran up there on my brother's 4 wheeler and there in a deep swell there were two gut piles a cow head 8 legs the hides were under the piles, no tag in the one head.
We do some calling of the other 2 that run up on this allotment with me we were going up this morning with the brand inspector and sheriff.
The forest service traded 80 acres up there years ago for a warehouse. The 80 is not fenced as it cost more to fence and maintain then what the grass is worth. We found out last night before we had to go that the gut piles belonged to 2 steers that the owner of the 80 dumped just barely on his property.

yup but he hauled the guts legs heads and hides up onto the forest then back bearly onto his property. We all thopight that they were oir forest alotment cattle there in those piles. The other side of the allotment hads a few burtcherd last summer.

Yup! He hauled the legs, heads, hides and gut thru the forest and just barely dumped them on his property. We thought they were forest allotment cattle. The other side of the allotment had a few butcher a year ago.

That would make me awful suspicious too-- being the hides were there...Aren't hides worth nothing anymore? I haven't sold one in ages as my butcher takes the hide as part of the butchering fee...But at times they were worth good money--and in cases like yours- keeping them around could keep a fella from getting Tom Horned...... :wink:

$35 is what you have to pay back to the meat cutter here if you want to keep your hide.
