Has anyone tried an after market air ride suspension on a Dodge Ram? I am looking for a good ride not just a better ride. Putting it on an 04 2500 short bed. Maybe I should just get a long bed Chevy.... Short several thousand dollars or I would!

I put air bags on a "06 Power wagon reg cab log box and also on a 95 2500 4x4 cummins. Both were light sprung trucks. Pulled my new 605 m Vermeer baler with the Power Wagon with about 65lbs air in the bags and it sat level hooked up. Backed them down running empty.
The 95 has a bale deck and runs about 20 lbs unless loaded. Sure help that old truck.

I got Air lift from SD suspension but I think Firestone and Pacbrake are both good as well. I went for the Airlift as they have a internal Jounce.

I have installed Firestone air rides in the last 2 GMC1500 pickups that I have owned. Pump'em up when needed and run them low (5 psi) when not.

My son has done the same system and runs his at a steady 8psi which seems to be all he needs for pulling their service trailer (couple of tonnes) in their electrical business.

But they still don't turn a 1/2 ton into a one ton...

Mr. FH has put air bags on two pickups before this new one. They assured him that he didn't need them on his 2016 Dodge 3500. We have been hauling a lot of stuff and he hasn't been happy not having the air bags. So he had them installed. Here he is with 12 ton of lick tubs and the pickup is level. I don't know if it changed the ride any, though as that wasn't why he uses them.

I just sold my Dodge and my back and my wallet have been thanking me ever since. :D

I thought this thread was about my bull riding career!

A lot of guys run air bags out here and rave about the ride and the ability to level out a good load. I have no experience with them.

Silver, selling your Dodge was just one more way you have let me down! :) What little class ya had has left the building! (Kidding)(Kind of)

(Chevys sure do ride nice however) ;)

That made me grin, Silver.

I just love the ID10T's on Facebook that have a completely trashed and beat to death 1st generation Dodge with the Cum Apart and 600,000 miles who swear the dash isn't cracked and that the truck has zero blowby and are only asking $34,000 USD for it. But I don't think any of those folks would even throw in the empty feed sack that's being used as a seat cover for that price.

They're essential equipment... especially on a dodge.. I'd recommend getting the air compressor to go with it (though you may want to shop around to get a deal on those)

Our old Chevy 1 ton doesn't need the airbags.. it has 16 leafs on each side in the back.. If there was ever a truck that rode harsh, that would be it.. My '94 dodge on the other hand only has 5.. without air bags it sags when you stand on it, some pressure in the bags and it fixes it nicely.. also really good to re-aim your headlights on the fly.

My truck is the '94 flatdeck, 220,000 miles, LOTS of work done to it (by me, on the cheap), pushing close to 500rwhp.. Yes, I replaced the seat.. last guy who owned it must have been a 300 lb guy who totally collapsed the side bolsters getting in and out of it.
I built and designed the bumper and deck.

Dad's is the '92, 300,000 miles, only body work done to it, auto tranny replaced once.. beautiful shape inside and out, but BORING to drive :P

Mine has the Air Compressor (03 Dodge) and I Love that. The Compressor stopped working and the shop just got it going again. Your comment made me chuckle because I was getting a ton of people flashing their brights on me when my compressor was down. I had never connect the difference the Air Pillows made until I read this. Since the compressor is up and I am inflated again, I am not getting brights flashed at me.

I do need a new seat. I'm at 600,000 miles. I've been saying that since 300,000 and keep justifying not doing so because, "Well, it's kind of old. How much longer will I keep it"? LOL

I put the seat of a Mazda Rx7 in mine.. it's a sorta deep bucket, a little harder to get in and out of, but SO much nicer to drive

Nashville only wishes they could get as country as that.
