As for the tractor, I had one just like it that I borrowed from my son a couple winters ago. Stupid thing ( and remember, I am a John Deere Guy ) never even made the first winter. Battery was worthless, had to go back to the old 4020. You see, you might have the oldest haying tractor on here, but I would definitely be in the running for second place. :roll:

RA, if you feed 2 I guarantee it will cut your yardage costs in 1/2. :wink:

As far as they do better with at least 2, can sell the extra,???

They will gain better with two of them RA. Shouldn't be overly hard in you area to get rid of the other one. Craiglist add for freezer beef may even get rid of it quickly.

Sorry to hear you had to go back to using the 4020. I know having ran that thing yesterday, I don't want to go back to using the M..... We really do have battery trouble with that thing....doesn't hold a charge very long anymore...

It is funny to have a M as the number 1 and only go to tractor.... You know, the point to where I could get another tractor is almost here. I'm battling now with do I "want" a bigger tractor or do I "need" a bigger one. I really don't "need" a bigger one, it would just be nice, so I think I'll run with the ol' M until I "have" to do something whenever that is??? :???:

I've been looking into whether I could feed a few calves out for people...sell them a safe, well taken cared for product. ...but having been through what I have with horses and bucking bulls, I'm very soured on relying on anybody that doesn't live in my house for anything. I'm a big eater, maybe I will build a "2" head capacity feedlot and just sit down and eat two....

Congrats RA it takes forever to build a herd and land holdings. I sold my cows when I went to college I sold my cows and it has taken me years to get back to where I was. I did set a goal of # of head to own by age 30 without owing a dime on them and I made it!

Life is fantanstic!!!!!!! There's so much to learn and be a part of! Like....I'm getting ready to make an incubator out of stuff just laying around....if and when those first chicks hatch, I'm going to be happy as heck I did that!! Maybe not what you were thinking, but life is great....

The dealer said that I would enjoy it's easy to work on feature... The caster angle was all off.....so I fixed that, then I bored it out 90/100 and put in dual overhead injection shift on the fly alloy bias anti-lock cam sprockets with a compression cooling back-up.... :shock:

R A, you take some very nice photographs and have an admirable upbeat positive outlook on life in general. Your ranch is one of the best, no matter the size of your operation. Hopefully Mr. Stubbs will get some pointers from you on how to work hard, run good cattle, and be satified with what you are doing, without taking hand-outs from anyone.

A hundred years from now your descendants can write a book about the hardscrabble origins of the famous RA ranches in Missouri. It won't be an entirely new story, but it will be familiar.

I kinda got excited reading Mr. Stubbs deal there, then got to the last part there and went uh-oh.... It sounds like there's enough of them that if they really wanted to they could be cutting a lot bigger hog in the behind than me from the start, but maybe not quite the place they wanted??? or maybe even that place if they really wanted??? I'm absolutely terrible about the business side of all this, but I make up for it with time, imagination and go....

Thanks for the input! ...sounds like sound advice! I have my first ever set of meat birds coming April 1st. Excited about that! ...and I have more layer chicks coming. I did just eat my extra more laying or dual purpose roosters and they were GREAT! I do like the idea of being able to offer people what I'm experiencing in this great food! So we'll have to see.

That would be pretty neat if I ever make this in to something and is worth being noted down the road.... even just within family. I take pictures everyday of what all is going on, so it's well documented that way....some calendars filled up too to add a little more.
