I got a panicked call from my neighbor today. They had out their cattle next to mine on their allotment rotation and their bulls and mine had a big brouhaha and tore down thirty feet of fence. A bunch of their cowherd went onto my leased ground. It took me a couple hours to finish up at work and then get home. Me and littlest H ran straight up and found that the Mitchell’s had rebuilt my fence and got all their cattle but one heifer out. We got her out easily. So everything is straight on both sides. I’m running some panels up as reinforcements Incase the bone headed bulls decide to try round two. But I’m just humbled at how amazing these folks are. I’ll try and take some pictures this evening. Thanks Alan and Liz. Top shelf humans.

are not bulls and rams wonderful. here in the next weeks when it time to pull them, I wish I had something that shrink them small enough to fit into mason jars where you could feed and water them, then next spring for the bulls and this fall for the rams you take them out they go back to full size for breeding season.

Thanks Alan and Liz. Top shelf humans.
You have serveral times now used the term top shelf. This has me worried. My wife is not that tall. At the grocery store I have to reach things on the top shelf for her. Does this mean that she married me because I am not top shelf? Which shelf am I? First I find out that I live on the wrong side of the tracks. Now I find out that I am lower shelf. I might develop a complex or something.

what worries me is "top Shelf' is usually a bar or liquor store term

With a bunch of friends like you, Webby and Jody, I may have to start drinking off the top shelf. 😂😂😂
I agree with ya Jody about the pain in the butt bulls and rams. Send the shrink ray down here when you’re done with it.

I can’t testify to your shelf Webfoot but Mrs Webfoot is a first ballot hall of fame Angel 😇 for putting up with you all these years. Her and Mrs H will be up there in heaven visiting while you and I chase the devils cows across the sky.

I’d wager quite a bit of cash you are as top shelf as they make a neighbor

While top-shelf generally refers to the high shelf where the finest whiskey was kept out of sight, it also refers to the high shelf where men's porn magazines were kept. Gentlemen, please be careful before talking about your wife being top shelf. :sneaky:

This site is full of middle shelf, half empty, slightly below average humans. None of us are smart or we’d not huv choosen two became bovineoligists. I’ve seen most of our pictures and haven’t noticed many super models.

But the funny thing is, the vast majority of ranchers are the most down to earth, kind, genuine people I’ve been fortunate enough to meet. Oh for sure I’ve met boneheads. But I’ve also made lifelong friends who would drop everything to help you or support you. This site is full of the good ones.

I was a cowgirl until I was 18 when I became a cattlewoman. My husband was a cowboy until his death at 21. He didn't have the inner strength it took to be a cattleman.

A rancher without good neighbors is a lonely rancher. Some of my best memories were of monthly community grange potlucks and the taste of real campfire beef chili and campfire dutch oven made cornbread after the final haying was complete and the cattle were in fall pasture. An evening filled with stories, poetry, and good old time music.

No super models hey? Debbie keeps me young by putting formaldehyde in my coffee every morning……
BTW, I am not standing in a ditch or kneeling in this photo….
