Ammo, tax write-off?

I was thinking about heading over to the new Cabelas to get some 5.56 ammo, is there any reason I can't write that off as an expense for my farm? I wouldn't use this caliber for hunting, only for varmints and security, if the economy flops then I plan to be prepared to protect my assets, cattle grazing could be very tempting for hungry people if they aren't patrolled. Of course that's worst case scenario, but I say prepare for the worst, hope for the best. So again, is there any reason not to write it off?

I can't believe I didn't think of this before, Sunday I bought 400 rounds of 5.56mm and 300 of .40 s&w.

Now maybe I can get the Bushmaster ACR/Magpul Masada
