The new hand, Brady, pushing a pair. He is a fun guy to have around. Today he told Saddletramp and me that he had worked by himself quite a lot, but had never been short-handed or lonely. :-)

Great picts as always! I had a fellow tell me once when i was a teenager, that working with me was a lot like working alone except way more frustrating! I hope i have grown outa that stage!

Brady must have brought his own horse, or have you been trading again?. I don't think I saw that horse when we were there last fall. Of coarse there have been lots of things I did't saw that I should have that might have saved some problems here & there! I don't get lonsome too much until I get to the house. The house is mighty empty when I'm home alone., There have been several times some help would have been sure handy enough. I guess I've been lonsome & shorthanded, both, and I also enjoy my time alone--I need it. Variety is the spice of life :!:

Nothing like young help to get a guy excited.I have 3 of them working for me right now makes a guy feel like he's 25 again the work is sure getting done here 2 trailers a week.

When I was a kid, one of Dad's hired men told me, "You are about as handy as a flood in a Fizzy factory."

That must have summed up my abilities. And it also "dates" me. Most young folks anymore don't even know what a Fizzy izzy.

Shortgrass, Brady did bring a couple of his own horses to use for calving.

Brady's horse doesn't appear to be in near as good a shape as the Spearhead horses. That's the first thing I noticed.

Brady rides his horses quite a bit. Our horses are too fat for their own good, although they are only getting hay. They get a little grain as we saddle up.

Brady has the same horse trading addiction that I do. He purchased the tall sorrel quite worth the money. The horse has some attitude problems, but Brady is a real good hand and is turning "Snoopy" into a pretty good cow pony. I don't like a tie-down and neither does Brady, but this is the highest headed horse I've ever seen. As Brady was going fast to turn some heifers this afternoon, he said he could look right down the horse's head to see the nostrils. This horse just about needs a tie-down.

I'm not much for tie-downs either, but on some horses they are sure better than not having one. That head in the airmakes them look like their brains run down their neck. :P

I wonder if this horse has some teeth problems. That can cause them to put their head in the air, big time.
