2006 goes down in the record books as the driest recorded,2007 rolls around and we are getting moisture with regularity, hay fields are really impressive this year,if this keeps up maybe we will break even  ...............good luck
PS How about you,are you getting moisture on your place ?

We're getting a few thunder showers this afternoon-- but could sure use a 3 day rain...Spent the last few days branding and trucking cows out to pastures- Only got about a dozen late calvers left down here on the hay meadows- and a couple of those are open heifers that lost calves and are going to the sale Thursday- rest may get loaded in the trailer and hauled north to calve whenever...Around here the improved pastures/crested wheat grass is coming pretty good, but the native grass is just starting to green up...Just been too cold at nights (freezing or down in the 30's) for the grass to get going good....

One good thing is that in our area the reservoirs and stock dams are all full- and the creeks and springs are running water...In fact some of the creeks are still running good enough, its been tough fixing the fence gaps across them....At least there will be some water for awhile...

Hay Maker, I wish y'all would quit sucking all the moisture out of those clouds before you send them our way. Over 14 inches behind for the year...my ryegrass may be done already! Wednesday night was the first rain over a half inch since mid Feb. 2.2 inches and very little water standing the next morning.

Haymaker ain't gittin it all...he's lettin some of it go on past and lettin us have some.
We need to cut hay....and have been waitin on enuff dry days in the forecast to get it done, between rains. Aint happened yet. Can't complain tho about gettin rain.....we know well what it was like last year when we didnt get it. I'm thinkin now...if the hay gets a lil wet after we cut it...that'll just mean the next cuttin will come on and grow that much sooner LOL

We're in the same boat, RM. Nobody round here has cut any ryegrass hay yet, and it's already May!

Have a tractor that has been running non-stop for the past two weeks pumping water..................

We should have grass up to a cow's belly now!

Dry...dry...dry here.

Hay fields look like crap!

Fires, which is something we NEVER deal with this time of year, are a bigger threat every day!!

HEADED EAST!!!!!!!!!!

GOOD LUCK

radar looks like it's perdy much been sittin right on top of you for the last two days Haymaker.
Lil Lilly is supposed to be tryin out a new horse (prospect) this evenin, when I told her the rain chances.....she sure did have a frown on her face this mornin.
It's more chance tomorrow than it is this evenin, Hopin she can try the horse without rain today, then let it pour tomorrow.

Well tell lil Lilly to be careful, weather can get violent fast this time of the year,we had a storm last week that blew a large oak tree over on my sister's house, took us all day to get it off and cut up,dang wind and lightning is nothing to be taken lightly...............good luck
PS Please let some of this rain get past you,so Mike, Robertmac & Kola can enjoy

Mike, you are one of the few that knows how BAD my green grass looks! I planted way more grass last fall thinking I could hay a few fields and get a jump on my hay needs...not going to happen! Trying to run down a fellow now to buy some ryegrass hay.

We were getting dry and than got a good three inch soaker... I think we are about where we should be this time of year as far as precip but we are way behind in grass because of the cold snap in the early-middle part of this month.. Grass in some of my fields is usually about knee high this time of year, now it is barely over the shoes... I am hoping in 2-3 weeks it will be waist high, it is growing good now but running out of winter feed so are going to have to graze darn soon.. At least we got some cheap corn gluten from a plant whose drier broke... That is stretching us out a bit further.

We just got hammered about an hour ago.....lots of rain lots of thunder and lightenin........lost power....but it's back on now. I just looked at the radar, and it looks like it aint even got started good yet.

(I'm not squeezin I promise)
