Paul Hitch Passes

American agriculture is mourning the loss of Paul Hitch, 64, a cattleman and longtime livestock industry leader from Guymon, Oklahoma. Paul passed away Friday, March 14, 2008, after a difficult bout with cancer. Best known for his success in cattle feeding, Paul was president and chairman of Hitch Enterprises, Inc. and Hitch AgriBusiness, Inc. Paul was a former chairman of the NCBA Policy Division and the NCBA Live Cattle Marketing Committee. He had served the past two years as vice president and president-elect of NCBA but was unable to accept a term as NCBA president due to his illness.

This is a tremendous loss to the cattle industry, as well as to a fine family.

We saw him in Reno. There was a very nice tribute to him. So glad he could hear how highly so many people regard him, instead of all of it being said after he was gone.

Visiting with him, we knew he was very ill, but really shocked that it happened so fast, though knowing it is a blessing for him not to suffer longer.
