Another Winter Storm...

Someday soon this will be rain...I just know it! Some areas are forecasted to get 3 feet out of this :shock:.

... Winter Storm Watch in effect from Thursday morning through
early Saturday morning...

The National Weather Service in Cheyenne has issued a Winter
Storm Watch... which is in effect from Thursday morning through
early Saturday morning.

Snow... possibly heavy at times... will develop Thursday morning and
continue through early Saturday. By early Saturday
morning... snowfall of 4 to 6 inches will be possible in the city
of Laramie with 10 to 14 inches possible in the higher elevations
of the Laramie range.

A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant
snow... sleet... or ice accumulations that may impact travel.
Continue to monitor the latest forecasts.
 
We're getting rain...Started a little yesterday evening when I was coming in from fencing- temp dropped and started drizzling...Rained off and on a little all night...Wind howled about 30-35mph... 54U decided it was a perfect time to have a calf- but calf seems like he's doing fine this morning...Temp is 39- but wind makes it feel colder..

Predicting a chance this could turn to snow tonight- but not much sticking except in the higher elevations...
 
Started snowing at midnight and it is still snowing right now.

Thinkin' about it...my butt gettin' awfully 'sore' just sittin around waitin on replies to all the resumes I've sent out since 2nd March...and have'nt 'treated' myself to anything 'fun' since then.

I might as well go for a hot-soak. There IS 'something' about that sulphur/calcium water that really works to cure most 'ills'...
 
We got our first spring snow storm too - snowed all night Monday and quit at lunchtime yesterday. We only got about 6 inches and it wasn't too cold so it will be valuable moisture. I guess old "mother nature" thought we were getting withdrawl symptoms after having the ground clear of the winter snow for a whole 4 days :roll: You can tell "mother nature" is a she by the sense of humor :lol: :lol: :lol:
Predicting another storm next week - lets hope it not like last year's event at this time - a foot of snow that lasted a week with windchills in the -30Cs for the first couple of days :roll: I was starting to think we were winter calving again :cry:
 
was'nt my choice to stay here; the El Rancho just happens to be within my price-range...all I need is one phone call and I'll probably never see this town again. Not much ranching going on in the Big-Horn Basin anymore anyways...nothing but pump-jacks and summer-time-retreat-tax-writeoffs...

We're supposed to get three feet from it. :? I know I was praying for moisture a couple months ago but now I'm ready for a break. We just got rid of the foot we got last Sunday.
 
Drizzled and spit rain all day...We've gotten about 1/4 inch all together...Still hasn't turned to snow- but my wifes friend called her- and said they were on the way back from Billings and ran into bad roads so are spending the night in a Motel in beautiful downtown Jordan Mt....

Big Dry Angus has their sale tomorrow - and I'm beginning to think Brent has been living right- as it seems to rain every year at their sale- so they get a fantastic turnout of folks that don't want to work in the mud and want to celebrate the rain- and have green grass and bulls on their mind...
 
It's been beautiful for over a week here now, dugouts are full, cows are calving on dry ground, songbirds are happy, and so is Silver.
If it were to keep up like this we should see some green grass soon, but still way later than normal (whatever normal is anymore).
 
I was up on the pasture yesterday working on some fences, since we're planning on moving some cows out on Saturday-- and the crested wheat grass is really coming- especially in the areas where there is lots of old grass left... The crocus's were blooming on the sidehills...The water holes and dams are all full and still running over with some pretty good snowdrifts left in some of the big coulees...Creeks running so high it will be sometime before I can get that fence patched...The native grass is greening up- but not really growing yet....

But with this rain- and the 60-70 degree weather they are predicting for Sunday/Monday a guy should be able to watch it grow.... :D :D :D
 
Had 3" of snow on the hood of my truck this afternoon. Nice wet snow and it was melting nice and slow. :D
Cows were running down the hill chasing the feed truck this morning.

Does it get any better??? :D :D :D It rained here this afternoon, and the grass did shoot up. We'll see what this next storm brings. I need to put the cattle BACK into shelter... their three days of freedom is coming to an end. They really aren't going to want to leave their fresh feed to go back into the snow hole :lol:.
 
Good luck you guys!!! If someone could send us some rain instead of wind we'd sure appreciate it...dust blowing like crazy yesterday :mad:
