Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. Maybe you could just buy the amount of bales you need at market price, and then after the wedding sell them again for market price. You should be able to sell them for the same price as the purchase price, and all you will be out is the shipping and handling, which you will have to do anyway. Do a little shopping and buy the bales as cheaply as possible and consider it an investment. Store them until winter hits in earnest, and then put them back on the market. You may be surprised to see that you may actually make a profit on the deal besides getting the use of them for the intended purpose. Be careful you don't break the strings, or they may fall apart and all you will have is bedding. Happy honeymooning. :)

the bales were going to be used for bedding on the honeymoon.

oh, now i get it, they're not for you :?

we ued to rent Stampede bales but the pick-up and delivery and clean-up of the broken ones got to be a real pain, plus it conflicted too much with haying

I would be willing to rent out wedding bales and wedding cows, and working honeymoons...
If they are 100 pound squares that works out to over $0.25/pound for rent, I can only imagine what a cow would rent for. I can't believe we have missed this golden marketing opportunity for so long.
Although, I do have a cousin north of Calgary that rents out pigeons (I mean doves) for wedding ceremonies. I think he charges about $100 per, and they fly home themselves.
