Okay, okay! I might as well jump in and help stir it up!
Right now, I am breeding QH and went strongly to the bloodlines that are high up or popular in the cutting, working cowhorse, as that is what I want. I may have trouble with the size on some of these little rascals, but all that said, I've been around good ones that wqere all different kinds.
But when you get to braggin on breeds, I will tell you the same thing as I tell the people who think mules are the be all end all. Show me a mule, paint, appy, morgan, etc. that is winning consistently in the cutting pen and I'll sure take a look.
Tendencies, people, tendencies.
Ever heard of Peppy San, Doc Bar, Smart Little Lena, etc..
I've never heard of any in any other breed that cosistently beat them. but I donj't get around a lot so there sure could be some.
Cowy'est horse I've ever ridden is a son of Mr. Bartender. Paint breeding stock. Problem is there was a paint Mr. Bartender and a QH Mr. Bartender and I lost the papers that came with him somehow. So I have no idea which one he came out of, but I suspect the QH one as I think I remember his mother was a paint.
But I did get some of his bloodline going in my herd. Only problem is, they are grade to everybody but me. Doesn't really matter cuz I ain't keeping them in my herd to sell them. I want to ride them. Got a grandson and granddaughter out of the Bartender horse and I love riding the gelding and sure am liking the looks of the colts out of the mare. I'll let you know how they turn out in another year or two when we get to riding some.
Okay, all who I offended, let 'er blast!
"A good horse is never a bad color." Or breed, for that matter.
