Anybody like Paints?

Totally enjoyed this discussion...went to gregs bro's tonight to see his Appy foals....he has some beauty's. JB...you and greg think ALOT alike...scares the crap outta me :P
 
JB I don't raise Paints either, and I don't like all Paints. I don't like too much white on the head, or white around the eyes, so I just like to let other people raise them, and buy the ones that are marked the way I like. Saves all the hassle! :lol:
Color me Smart is a Paint stud by Smart Little Lena (QH) and out of Doxs Painted Lady (P) and his offspring have won over 2 million in the NCHA.

Well, that is a good thing to know.

I don't pay a lot of attention, don't read QH Journal. So if something comes to my attention, they must be pretty noteworthy.

I don't care if they have stripes, if they are cowy and nice to ride.

I'm easy to please.

Just a random question from the horse idot in back.... Where is a good place/way to learn about QH, Paint wherever bloodlines... I mean, I can see a horse advertised out of this line or that line but it doesn't mean much to me to be honest... I know a lot of this turns into the preference of the owner, they had a horse with bloodline A and it was great but they knew a fella with a horse out of bloodline b that was a dog so they just have avoided it or whatever... Folks I know around here well... They don't know much if anything about the cow horse bloodlines at all.. Just wondering if there is a good source to read somewhere with the basics of it all (You know, names to know) and than just find a way to fill in the blanks..

Also IL, I believe every breed association has a magazine. They generally are full of articles relative to what lines are doing what. In addition, there are a number of magazines that are "discipline specific" that will show what breeds & lines are succesful.
And as Mrs. Greg showed, there are tons of hardcover books available.
(I think Amazon.com has a huge listing).

Personally, I like to listen to anyone that'll talk about horses & try an soak up as much of it as possible :wink:

Sometimes we get color, sometimes not, in our watered down version of Paints, Quarters and TBs.. . everything from plain sorrels to "wow". Took us a few years to collect our mares and now I have daughters to replace them when that time comes. Except for one, who hasn't foaled this year yet and it better be a filly. I strayed a bit a couple of years ago and bought two Rugged Lark granddaughters; QH and both bays (just for you Jinglebob :wink: but sorry no Peppy San, Doc Bar or Smart Little Lena :oops: ) - quess you could say we're raising outcrosses, LOL 8)

Oh . . . Mrs Greg, the coffee has boiled dry and the beer has gone skunky!! :P :P Heck I wouldn't even try selling you anything - we could just have an interprovinical bum dart competition. :wink: (hint: you'd win, buggered my knee again, it's an annual thing :x ) Was that enough to stir the pot?!?!?!
