well k_ranch and I are finally to the point where we can come and check in once in awhile and see whats up with our ranchers family. We are now located near wanblee sd and the house is mostly done remodeling. We moved to my folks place (grandmas house). I went back to work (teaching Kindergarten in Kadoka) to help pay for the remodel. k ranch is busy helping the folks and trying to keep the cattle in Bennett County healthy and all. The kids are in school in Interior, 2 oldest. The 4 year old comes to school with me 3 times a week to go to preschool and spends the afternoon with the coolest elderliest lady around. He loves "Grandma". The girl (2) stays with grandma all day and is getting very spoiled. We are doing ok, miss the sandhills though. oh well hope you all are ok too. Take care Ranch Mom

My favorite part of the new house, Grandparents were rock hounds, picked, cut, polished all of these and put them in. I painted all the old really dark paneling to give a fresh look. The carpet in here was green and brown, (shagadelic) We replaced all the flooring (minus bathroom flooring) and we sanded the real hardwood flooring (found hidden under carpet) and poly'd it. We have a lot more room now and are really enjoying it.

That IS a pretty fireplace. I've never heard of polishing rocks for a fireplace before but it is very attractive and should catch on.

Seee that why I missed you...your pictures :) Love the kids pics :!: The rock fireplace is really nice...I think your pic frame with the Cowboy boots is for sure somthing I need to have,Have our kids first cowboy boots, neat idea.

Congratulations on your new home. Looks like you've got it fixed
up just dandy!!!

When we went on a cruise to Alaska in 2001, we met Alan and Asta
Amiotte. Alan passed away the very next year. He was quite the story-teller. Do you know Asta and her family? They have lived there forever.
We thought both Alan and Asta were really neat people.

FH yep alan and dad are second cousins. All the kids of both are similar ages, tucker was in my class so I went through grade school at Interior with them and high school too. They are a really fun family.

ohh man can't believe it's 9 oclock, supposed to be gettin lesson plans done, better get of the da&*&% puter

I missed you two guys, Ranch Mom. :-) I have wondered for a while what had became of you two. I really like the looks of your new abode. It seems a lot more like you own when you put some of your personal elbow grease into it. That is how I feel anyway. We seem to have to change or improve everything we own. lol.

Here is part of my winter project last year. We had an old brick fireplace that took up most of our living room. They were cream colored brick, and were not real modern or attractive looking. So my wife and I tore out the old fireplace, and I made a more condensed frame and added a wood stove. The reason we recessed the middle of it was to get the woodstove back as far as possible. I did most all of the work, except for some help putting mortar mix on the imitation rock. We also put in laminate hardwood flooring, made with real hardwood. I had a welder and about every kind of tool in the house at one time or another. The chimney above the fireplace is brick all the way up, and that was a challenge to figure out a good way to support it.

Nice job of your fireplace Tap!

I looked through your pics again Ranchmom, didn't notice until now your outdoor stair railing,I like that and it just soo happens I know where there are some wheels like that  Looks Like greg now has a Winter project

Good job, Tap. I can almost remember that fireplace from last
year...almost, but not quite. Thanks for the picture.

Just about time to fire that stove up, too!!

I bet you really enjoy it during the winter. I know I would.
Mr. FH says burning wood, warms you twice.
(once when you chop it and again when you burn it.)

Wood smells soooooo good too!

Welcome back from me, too! I'm not on here enough any more, to know who's MIA and who's not..... Derned jobs, anyway, huh?

I love the idea of the baby boots hanging on the picture frame, too........what a great idea! Oh, the fireplace is great, too, and I'm sure the floor looks so much better without that carpet on it (I hate carpet, can hardly wait to finish getting rid of ours ).
