The better the pictures, the better chance you will have of selling something, horse or otherwise. Good luck. :)
 
Listen to those two they know what they are talking about! Photos sell and the better the pictures the better the sales. I sell about 75% of my colts online the other 25% going through the TB sales. The biggest problem you will have is young kids pretending to be buyers. I get alot of e-mails from really young girls wanting to buy racehorses :) Kind of cute, but they can get really goofy :) Also don't send out video without a deposit. I havent EVER gotten one back :) E-mail has made things so much easier. You can just snap a picture or do a video clip and send it along.
 
Hey taking pictures of horses is not an easy thing. Set your horse up the wrong way and you get a giraff. I'm not an expert but a pro shared some things with me that might help. Number one have a clean background, no poles or trees or houses. These end up looking like they are growin out of your horse. Make sure that your halter,or bridle, is adjusted properly and use the best that you have. A halter adjusted to low will make your horses head look long and ugly. Take time to set your horse up, nothing is worse then a horse whos legs are all over. The best pictures are taken from the side or at an angle. NEVER take one head on. If you pick up any good mag. you can get a bunch of ideas of what to do and what not to do. And generally speaking only take a picture of the horse you want, other horses in the picture are confussing to most people. There are other things to remember but I doubt you really want to get that deep into it. Oh one other unless you really savvy the secerts of optical illusions stick with flat ground. A slight incline can really benifit some horses, but on the other hand if you are just guessing it can give you some nasty looking pictures.
 
One other little tip that I have learned...
what ever you want to look the largest on the horse, is where
you want to stand closest to. If you want their hip to look
large or larger, stand closest to that.

For that same reason, you don't
want to take a head shot...when you do, you are standing
closest to their head, which makes the head look huge, as
heelfly mentioned.
