What is it about this day? Last year on this date we had a calf killing snow storm. Some say 18 inches of wet snow with 60+mph winds. Today it is blowing a gale from the SE (not normal here for terribly strong SE winds), and it is very mild with dirt blowing everywhere. Should make it to over 70 degrees today. Tonite we are promised rain and T-storms, and I hope they are right.

Getting about the same up here today-- Temp is 70- but the wind is howling 30 mph gusting to 40 out of the ESE.....

They are saying its going to blow in some thunderstorms tonite and rain tomorrow, which would be just fine with me....Altho it will slow up some of my fence fixing which already has been held up by the snowdrifts in the coulees and the runoff keeping me out of the coulees/creek crossings...

But I'm not going to gripe about running water.....

We had a nice one too. Very little run water, due to open ground all winter. But we needed all that soaking down too. Kept track this year so far with 4.2 inches of precip. That`s with estimateing the amount of water in the snow according to what they had in Mobridge. But the water situation should be OK.

Well we had thunderstorms all night long- we got lots of thunder, lightning, and wind- but only about .2 of rain...Most went west or south where I'm hearing reports of an inch or 2 of rain in some areas....

The good news is they are predicting these black clouds to move east today and tonite- and that we could get over an inch out it...

Brent McRae's Big Dry Angus sale is today- going to try and take it in...Been raining in his part of the country all night long- so should raise the price of his bulls about $500....

Rain this morning! :D

Had a slight breeze with it, about 25 to 30 mph. About 50 degrees.

Cattle don't seem too bothered by it. They can get out of the breeze and I fed them on sod.

I'm ready for more! :D

Seems like most times this would have come as snow. Man, this global warming is sweet!

.30" here, JB. Wish the wind would blow up some more rain. Just after daylight this morning there was quite a bit of lightning and thunder. I started calving a couple days ago but none yesterday or today.

Don't have to feed the girls in a fresh pasture with lots of old grass and some new green grass coming. I am feeding some corn/DDG in the bunks in the corral where they have to come for water. Might be easy to bribe one to come in if need be!

Did you make it over for a pancake today???

No, I had to go to whitewood this evening and perform, so I was busy on a saddle and kind of forgot. Maybe tomorrow.

What, you bribe your cows?

Must have been our lucky day. Got an inch and seven hundredths of rain here! WOOOO HOOOOO!

Man, that is great. Send the overflow on down!

There are places where an inch of rain might not seem like much to brag about, but western South Dakota IS a place to brag about it. :o

You will get your turn Jassy. :-)

Heck Tap, we only got a half inch and are pretty darn proud of that amount also! It rained off and on then finished with a thunder hail, lightening, thunder & a ten minute hail storm. Glad most of western SD got some moisture, now can't wait for the next one, and the next & ....... :D

Man it is nice to hear the rain stories instead of the dry lightning fires of last summer. We ended up with .30 but sounds like we may have more coming. I hope we all get soaked. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

EmptyPockets, are you sure you don't live over the hill from here? That sounds exactly like our weather the other day, other than the rainfall total. We had hail then sleet that nearly made the ground white. Then to top it off we had thunder and lightning last night and we received another .2 tenths of rain. More predicted for today too. :D
