I visited an old friend at the last sale I was at a month ago. He has been retired for a few years now from a lifetime of ranch work and later cattle hauling.

I asked if he was doing anything to keep busy. His reply was that his wife had asked what he was going to do that day.

He said, "Nothing".

She said, "You did that yesterday".

He answered back, " I'm not finished yet".

Thanks for the photos Soap. Glad to see a little moisture in that country.

The Spearhead crew gettin'er done as usual. :D

Calves look good. :D

Soap did you lose a little weight?

Or is it just a optical illusion of low camera angle and vertical stripes on the shirt? :???:

No, not really. I'm afraid it's just an optical illusion, and taking advantage of the vertical stripes. :? But I appreciate your thinking so. :)

Thanks, Gcreek and Galloway2.

I really enjoy your pictures, it gets me out of the city,, even if it's just in my mind only. I envy kosmo getting to heel all those calves by himself. There ain't much more fun than roping calves. Especially if you don't have to do it all the time. :) :) :)

I worded that wrong, how many cows do you run in a group or herd?

Each bunch we have branded has been about 180 head, with the most calves done in one day this year being 218. That day I got to rope 110, and the Kosmo Kid roped 108. :)

Great pictures, Soapweed! Boy, that picture of your oldest group of calves sure shows an even group. I'm looking forward to my branding(s). I think I'm going to set some panels up to make roping calves at my branding easier like it might look like you do.

By using portable corral panels, it is easy to make some artificial corners, which gives better opportunity to set a trap when heeling the calves.

I can't keep that many in a group, it's hard for me to count over 50
