Since they've developed a DNA test-The AAA website has a new AMF/AMC interactive report. It tells you if any of your cattle have a risk to be AMC (carriers) for the gene that causes Arthrogryposis Multiplex (AM)-- what they were calling Curley Calf...

It sure makes you feel good when you run yours and they all come up "no carrier ancestor" (as of now anyway)- and makes you even happier you never really cared for the Gardiner cattle or Precision breeding :D

Oldtimer,
How many Gardiner cattle have you seen to make qualify your opinion?

angusbullman-- Probably none in person- as I have never went there and I know of no one locally using any Gardiner bulls..But I have seen numerous pictures and write ups in the AAA's monthly "advertising catalog" and lots in the semen sales books...And most the bulls I have seen don't fit the specs for the cattle I want- as they chase the "bigger, better, faster" trend....Their cattle all seemed framier- and more performance than I wanted..

I have nothing against Gardiners personally-- but besides their type cattle not fitting what I'm looking for-- as I have said on here before- they do not fit into my choice of the type outfit to buy bulls from...I prefer the smaller local producer who produces cattle that you know can run in the area- that can show you the bulls momma- and tell you the goods and bads of the cow and the bull- and where the bull is not just a number in a computer....
