Auburn takes out bama!!!

Between Alabama/Auburn and Michigan/Ohio State, it was a great day to be a college football fan!

Congrats, Mike. I had a shot in your honor. It was only Crown Maple, but that was all that we had handy.

We beat OU in '78 when Billy Simms got stuck at the 12 yard line, Jim Pillen pounced on the ball, and we ran the clock out. We still talk about that game and will for years to come. The same is going to be with you Auburn fans and this game. You'll always remember where you were and who you were with. Wins like this come once in a generation..... maybe. Enjoy.

Question for Sandy:

In your opinion, could any of the four teams mentioned in this thread have beaten the 94 or 95 Huskers?
Bama's current dominance has to be equal to the 94 95 husker teams..... but to say one team could beat another of a different year is hard to say... the physical size of the ball player is bigger today than then, IMO, and no matter how you slice it, "homerism" will play into those theoretical games. as foolish as the undefeated 70? Dolphins vs the 85 Bears game..... I would bet on da Bears but think Csonka would bet Fish.....

I think that Auburn win today will be one for the ages..... I about went nuts, and I had no dog in the fight.... to hear the radio man call it was the best part!
Congrats Mike !!!

It's hard to compare those teams to the teams this year but the 94 and 95 Huskers were fun to watch they dominated those years.

Of course I'm biased, but I think that none of them could of taken the Huskers. I say that because stopping that option is a real bench and Frosty was serviceable enough as a passer to keep the box from being loaded up. Our defense had something like 9 guys that went on to the NFL. The cherry on top is the greatest college coach ever. Seems to me that he faced Saban in '94 - and blew him out.

Remember the Fiesta Bowl against Florida? The Fun-n- Gun was supposed to expose us and we wouldn't be able to keep up. Was there ever a bigger blow out in a national champ game?

I have my doubts that the O line on the teams today would line up and tell the defense what the upcoming play was going to be, like our boys would. Just daring them to try and stop it. Never be another like the teams from 94 & 95.

The guys that played in 94-95 probably couldn't make the starting lineup in today's football. Just a fact.

Yep. Maybe not even the second string. Players are specialized placements today. Used to be that a Q'back was recruited and he ran the offense of the day.

Now a Q'back is recruited with an offense to be designed around him & each other.

Congrats Mike to you and your Auburn Tigers. Great game and all done without "Fig Newton". When you can run like that who needs to pass. Should be a heck of a championship game.

It's like, at this point, what does a team do for an encore?
