Compared to two weeks ago feeder calves sold 4.00-8.00 higher.
Yearlings sold 4.00-7.00 higher. Slaughter cows and bulls sold
steady-1.00 lower. Several load lots of calves and yearlings offered.
Yearlings mostly light fleshed off grass. Most calves had
preconditioning shots. Many buyers present with very good demand
for calves and yearlings. Feeder receipts 62 percent steers and 38
percent heifers. 54 percent weighed over 600 lbs. Today's receipts
about 91 percent feeders; 4 percent slaughter cows; 2 percent
slaughter bulls; 2 percent females back to the country and the
balance was mostly misc. cattle. Next week's auction will be a feeder
calf special with 4500 expected. Also expected 500-700 yearlings and
the usual run of weigh-up cattle.
