A few years ago, this well was pumping mud. We raised it in the casing, and it has worked quite adequately ever since.

What the heck, did you have the pickup up in the tower. After all the reciever hitch was up there.

Never mind...it's got to be a cowboy hammer

Great pictures Soap. Since you look so "at home" up there I have to ask, were you a tree climber when you were a kid?

At my childhood home, there are around 25 or 30 trees in the yard and I climbed just about everyone. My poor parents tried to keep me out of them, but it didn't work. I drive by now and realize how lucky I was not to have fallen out of one of them! I still enjoy climbing and get to some at work, but the trees are dead and have metal "branches".

The receiver hitch was used as an extension to the pipe wrench. The two 18' pump rods I was trying to disconnect needed a little extra leverage in order to break loose. With a little "cowboy ingenuity," I was able to secure one wrench with a full sized fence post snug against the lead pipe and the receiver hitch added to the other pipe wrench to get the job done.

There isn't very good cellphone service by that windmill (five miles north of the home place) and I had already sent the boss back once to get more tools. As we all know, it helps to be resourceful when one needs to be...

It sure beats all those trips back and forth and no matter how much we try, anyway I always seem to forget something or it doesn't go according to plan.
