Got the first calf of the season this morning! Nice Hereford heifer calf out of a 3 yr old Hereford cow.

I don't envy you folks who have been doing this all along. 75 and sunny here today and can almost watch the grass grow. :D

Now I gotta catch this lil gal while I still can and give her a tag and 7-way shot. Tag is drying on the pickup dash as I speak
... errr... type. :D

Well, I am a chicken. Was gonna give baby a tag and shot. Mama didn't think too much of the idea, and I wasn't going to argue with her. I'm just not as young as I used to be.

gcreekrch, I think you guys up nort might have have lucked out with better calving weather than here this year.

Soap, a guy still has gotta be glad to be almost done, whenever "almost done" is. You just worked a lot harder to earn it this year!

Nicky, I usually take my hand-top to the pasture. The ball point pen writes down the calves on the back of my hand in case I can't remember long enough to write the calves down in the calving book I left back at the house.

LOL sometimes mama does know best  Youll get her soon enough.

Sometimes I envy yall who have an end to the calving......shoer keeps reminding me its job security. But after 3 weeks of 6-10 babies a shift its getting old fast. PLus I dont have to worry about our mamas they are more overgrown puppy dogs than cows LOL
