4H heifer's calf

The newborn area, there's about a couple acres around this shelter. They stay here til they are 5 days old or so... On a normal year, this year they'll have to wait for the snow to melt first.

You really captured some cute expressions there. Cattle look good,
I always feel bad about calves lying in snow, but it's better than
being dropped in snow.

I hope things continue to go well and that your snow leaves--
the sooner the better! And that goes for everyone calving where
the snow is deep.

I always laugh at some of the places cows will plant there calves. Then if you need to tag one of them and your looking for her calf she will lead you all over the place besides where her calf is laying. Or they acted like they dont have a clue where they are at.

Great pics. Hope you are into a single digit temperature day as well. Makes calving much more fun...
Thx.

Thanks,

WR, we have a few with marks like that on their feet. Hereford x Angus will do that now and then, but add Shorthorn in and you see lots marked like thet

Snow melted good today, and it was still +2 C at 9 pm. Should be lots of bare ground showing up soon.
