Neb.)-Bald Eagles Rescued South Of Gordon

By: Chris Fankhauser Posted at: 06/06/2008 10:47 AM

GORDON, Neb. (AP) - Wildlife officials and two ranchers in Nebraska's northern panhandle have rescued two injured bald eagles found on a ranch near Gordon.

Wildlife rehabilitator Shelly Lonsdale says the eagles, an eaglet and the mother, were injured when the tree they were in was taken down by high winds. The incident happened on the ranch of Cash and Jecca Ostrander south of Gordon.

Lonsdale says another eaglet died in the fall. The Ostranders helped untangle the surviving chick from the tree, and called wildlife officials.

The raptors were found Monday with injured wings and taken to the Rocky Mountain Raptor Rescue facility in Fort Collins, Colo.

Apparently there are more in the area then I knew. We are lucky this year to have a pair nesting here. It's been fun to watch then and educational for the little ones here.
