My boss just got a vermeer 605m last summer. This is the first time he really got to run it. We're pulling it with a JD 8100. This make for a pretty sweet baling outfit.

I don't know a whole lot about balers but this vermeer sure is nice to run. It weighs about 2000 pounds more than a JD. It barely moves on rough ground. The big flotation tires really are nice too. With the monitor you don't even have to look behind you if you didn't want to. It tells you everything.

With that nice big, roomy, air conditioned cab and the sattelite radio, it really makes it a joy to operate.

That's all fine and dandy, but, can it make a bale. See for yourself:

Here's a short video I tried to take while baling. All the comforts of home!

Ive heard those are supposed to be a screaming machine...Those duals dont cause any problems for running over part of the windrow? Ive tried using my 8300 on my 567 baler but the inside dual runs of the windrow.

Looks like you are enjoying the good life, fence_stretcher, by kicking back in the air-conditioned cab of a tractor, listening to old-time country music, and accomplishing something to boot. That would be hard to beat. Thanks for the pix and video.

I was sure thinking how nice it would be of you to get Mrs. Soapweed one of those.

She would enjoy an outfit like this for sure, but then I'd have to answer to my ol' skinflint banker, Sandhusker, and he'd probably not be quite so easy to get along with.

No problem with the duals whatsoever

That looks like a sweet rig. Bet it works nice for hauling the bales as well with... I'm guessing a 840 loader and a grapple...? Hmmm must be rough 8300 and a 605m for you -vs- a 3020 and a 530 for me....

When my neighbor came and saw my 605M he about peed himself with the size of the tires and how heavy built the things was.. He was a vermeer guy for years and than switched to NH for one year and now has Deere... No talking him out of the green machines but he really liked my M.... They do make a nice bale and can eat a big windrow up.. Only problem I really had with it was caused by mud build up on the rolers/pickup... Monitor is nice but we pulled ours behind a 7410.. Might have to go behind a different tractor this year, we shall see.

That is "one nice rig" must be nice to kick back in that ole John Deere, with windrows as far as the eye can see, believe I would have done a bit more raking tho...............good luck

I was thinking the same thing. Our windrows are 4 or 5 times that size. Do you rake it or just bale it behind the mower? It sure is pretty hay.

What impresses me is that he was videoing all that and stayed on the same windrow...I'd of been jumping between three and four of them, LOL....Maybe that is why he stayed with the smaller windrows, just to get the video shot without leaving a bunch of hay, LOL,

I should of elaborated. This was the end of a field and it was too windy to rake. I finished up the last windrows to get done.
