Any of you have a good bar recipe you'd be willing to share? Our bull sale is coming up (quickly, maybe too quickly!) and part of my responsibility is to bake part of the bars for the meal. I have some old stand by's but would like to try something new! In advance thanks, and I'll be sure to put them under the Fightless Friday recipe section!

You're all welcome to join us for a little fellowship and some good eats on our sale day Mar. 7th, Firesteel, SD. We'd enjoy having you!

Cheers---

Okra eating capital of the world. Good luck at the sale. Snickers is my favorite.

RR:

Unfortunately no okra at our meal...maybe next year if I have a successful crop. I do make a Snikers cake, and have tried to duplicate it in a bar form, with little success, and a huge, but tasty mess!

I wish you could join us. We'd enjoy having you. Maybe someday!

Cheers---

I'd like to be there and am about half tempted to come. What's the closest way to get there by plane. Fly into chicago or denver and rent a car? I really would like to be there to help. I get nervous at a sale though. When sitting in the crowd at a sale, you'd think I was going to sell or buy a million dollar one. Can't help it. I hope you have a good day. Maybe you'll have good weather.

Fly to Bismarck or Rapid City. Bismarck is quite a bit closer, but RC is usually a little cheaper. If you do come let us know and we'll be sure to have a place for you to stay and even try to get you at the airport.

I need to be here. Maybe next year. I really would enjoy it . My head cook and bottle washer is hunting a recipe for "hello dollies" , what ever that is. I'll get it to you when she finds it.

1 stick butter
1 cup crushed graham crackers
1 cup coconut
1 cup chocolate chip
1 cup pecans
1 can eagle brand milk
melt butter in 9" square pan
Layer each ingredient in order
Bake at 350 for 30min
cool and cut in squares

Top with okra to taste.

Hubby likes these, I don't like nuts so don't know how they taste. But they never go to waste :D

BUTTERSCOTCH BARS

4 eggs
1 (16 oz.) pkg. brown sugar
2 c. biscuit mix
2 c. chopped pecans or walnuts
1 (6 oz.) pkg. butterscotch (or chocolate) morsels
1 tsp. vanilla

Beat eggs at medium speed with mixer until frothy. Gradually add sugar, beating until thick. Add remaining ingredients, stirring well. Spread batter in a greased and floured 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 45 minutes. Cool and cut into bars.

Says it makes 4 dozen. I can never get 4 dozen out of that pan though.

Good luck with the sale.

Step #1 Jump into the truck/car.
Step #2 Head to Costco
Step #3 Pick up some Nanaimo Bars (in the bakery section)
Step #4 Let everyone know how much time and effort you put into
making these delicious bars!
Step #5 Smile and enjoy the Bull sale!

Thanks everyone....

BMR: What is a rice crispie or a cheerio cake? We currently have a version or two of rice crispie bar on the docket, but nothing with cherios. Will you ask Miss Tam for the recipe??

Jigger Boss: We don't have a Costco anywhere near-I believe Billings is the closest. However if I'm near one, I'll have to check out those!

I do really enjoy baking--just looking for some new ideas!

Thanks again, and I'll still take more if you have them!
