I've seen some green barbed wired and was wondering what the advantage(if there is one) of have green over the silver color? ? ?

Corrosion protection maybe?

Beats me as I saw some in the feed store today and wondered myself.

If I'd seen this thread earlier before I left out this AM....I'd have asked them.

They have that here in NE Texas also, blue & green.
We have some old spur rowl wire on our south pasture still hanging from a few posts, I always wondered how old it is.

We have a wallhanging we bought when we were in Montana a few yrs back...hubby loves the "old" wire history. Anyway its got nine differnt barb wire on it and the names and yrs,so if I'm correct at what your talking about,it looks like its called Hodge wire and the yr is 1887  Cool huh???

Thank you
It has a 'rowel' like a spur about the size of a nickel that used to spin on the wire. A few still do.
Yup,its got the rowel on it,on our piece of barb wire the rowel still spins :)

Go get it off! Cut it into 16 inch lenghs and sell it.....that old wire is worth quite a lot to the right people!

Not sure on the 16 inches, but it has to be a certain length to be considered enough to be certified...hell I dunno what I'm even talking about but there is a certain length it has to be!!!! Look into it.

That's an easy one! It's green so your cattle can see it better in the winter when you guys get all that snow!

Snow don't happen here and we still got the fancy colors to choose from.

But a lot of mine is like BMR's....that fancy "distressed" rust color!!
