Started drizzling here about 7AM-- I came in a little before noon because it was getting muddy out there....Couple of times it just dumped for a little while- but didn't even check the rain gauge until I noticed how the puddles were building and how much water was in all the feed pans....

Rain gauge now says 3/4 of an inch :D
Weather boys say it could rain tonite- and tomorrow... :D

We are getting rain also. After the long dry spell it sure is welcome, we have about an inch so far. It sure is making that native pasture green. :D

Got woke up the other early am from a thunderstorm. Got rain last night and a another thunderstorm this afternoon.
Suppose to rain on Wednesday.
Husband has figured we have gotten just over 5.14" since May 3rd.

Sure is nice when a guy gets it...We've had about 4.5 since the 1st of May- and its always appreciated....
Looks like right now their is another thunderboomer moving eastward across the state toward us....Would love to see it dump a couple inches on the pasture and fill some of the waterholes- altho so far the springs are looking good.....

Update: Had another storm hit about midnite- picked up about .9 in total yesterday and last night.....

Good to hear you guys are getting it. Hope some comes this way too. We've had around 1" since we had a nasty snowstorm about the 20th of April. If we hadn't gotten that snow then, I'd hate to think of how dry we'd be now. The grass is really looking stressed already in places.

It's supposed to rain over the next 3 days, so hopefully we get something.

:D we picked up .5 over night and today as well we tested 36 bulls and only had one fail due to scarring. Good day over all. looks like it might shower some more. :D

Oh ya we cut two colts and vaccinated the dogs. Nobody is tough enough to vaccinate the barn cat.

Glad to hear your getting some of this finally Big Muddy......
We were able to plow mud and get into the corrals where the registered heifers I had AIed were- so we hauled them and a couple little bulls for cleanup out to grass....
As I was closing the gate on the last trip about 3PM- the lightning was popping and the rain was starting to fall- so we beat feet out of the there fast...Storm dumped another 1/2 of an inch-- which makes 1.65 that we've got at the north place since Saturday night.... :D

The hailstorm hit us Sunday afternoon, and along with that came 9/10 of an inch of rain. Later Sunday night, another inch and a tenth fell which brought the total up to 2 inches for Sunday. This afternoon (Tuesday), after we finished branding the late calves, a quick little storm came through and deposited half an inch in very short time. It came hard, but at least there was no more hail involved. Our total moisture for the year, including last winter's snow, now measures eight inches of precipitation. The ponds again have water in them, and things in general are looking up. :-)

BMR... some insight to vaccinating your barn cat?!

  About only one type of pill or shot I'll give a cat- and that can be done at 50 yards  ....

Well, we're definitely having a year that's different than we've been used to. After about 7 years of drought, Rapid City set a record in May for the most moisture in any month since they've been keeping records. With the late April and early June moisture, I know a lot of places locally are approaching 15" in the last 40 days. We got about 1/2" yesterday and I'm sure we got at least that much again with the thunderboomer that woke me up at 4:30 this morning.

There is spring work that remains undone, but there's not much complaining except for the town people who can't keep basements dry.

Have gotten tracable moisture everyday since the middle of May.

ENJOY--We'll get hot and dry soon enough   And then might not see moisture for sometime......

Picked up another .10 of an inch last night :)
