We have been working pretty stupid around here of late, so tonight when the oldest got home from school I took the kids on a home grown field trip.

Looks like a fun late-in-the-day outing. I'll bet the kids really enjoyed the experience, learned a lot, and will remember it for the rest of their lives. Good for you. :)

:agree:

I know beavers cause problems, but they are neat
creatures, IMO. We have watched them, and they are amazing.
Their paws are like hands. They sure have my respect.
I guess reading "Three Against the Wilderness" might
have something to do with my fascination of them.

Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed it.

This country is wet enough on it's own. The best way for me to view a beaver is whem I'm removing it from a 330 Conibear.

Our boys used to enjoy sitting on a dam with their .22s in hand.

Your two had a good outing with Dad.

I have to go tear out a Beaver Dam tomorrow - - - If past excperience is any good I will need to tear it out about 4 weeks in a row before they move on.

I will try to take pictures.

The third one was in my arms a lot off the time. The trip up the coulee is a long way with 40 pounds of deadweight.

Beavers are a mixed blessing, but for us they are a pretty important part of our ranching operation. They create a lot of pasture for us by backing up water in what would otherwise be dry creeks a lot of years.

That is a pretty good book. It's been nearly 20 years since I read it. Maybe I'll have to find a copy and read it again.

I like beaver, as long as they stay out of the yard, and leave the ornamental trees alone. We killed 2 monsters last year. The one only had 3 feet, so he had been trapped before.

Cool! we don't have anything like that here. So the picture of the slide...do they actually slide down it, or is it just a trail?

It has probably been that long since I read it, but like you, I
thought it was a good read. Probably a bit 'green' but I still
enjoyed the story, and it's non-fiction. I like those books the best.
