In Indiana the Beavers are not to be disturbed but you can protect your property.
I'm glad I only have one creek big enough for them. When I find a new dam I use a backhoe and distroy as much as possible ( if you tear a 10' wide section down to the bottom it will move a lot of water - - - the first time I did this I almost lost the backhoe ) then wait about a week and repeat - - - It usually takes about 4 or 5 times before the building materials are depleted and they move on. The good part of this is with the trees gone they will not come back to that area for several years.
This does not sound like a solution for you - - - I hope some of the other post will help you.
They can sure be distructive but if you get in there with a backhoe and start tearing apart their handi work you will gain a respect for their work. I find it quit amasing how good they can build!
