Sorry to post this again but I cannot find my original post about this .

I know that Per said he might be going and if anyone else has decided to book in and attend the Beef Cattle Conference in Calgary next week at the Deerfoot Inn and Casino I would love to meet up with you .

Let me know and I will text you my cell number so we can stay in touch .

Thanks :tiphat:

Well you all sure are missing out . Today has been a whole day jam packed with helpful information and great speakers ..... :tiphat:

Am ducking out on the prime rib dinner that I pre paid for to meet my college roommate for drinks .. I may or may not be on time for the seminar tomorrow morning ...we have 25 years to catch up on . :p

How the heck does anyone get any sleep in this city ?? This former city girl has been in the country much too long. I was awaken at 3 am to the sound of vehicles , backfiring and sirens .. Where are the coyotes and the song birds .. :(

Lol Hillsdown. I know every time I'm in the city I wake every time some ding dong opens or close a room door. Vehicles I think are coming in the yard. Hillsdown is that the name of a town site or old school district. I was listening to KG country and they were talking about it. Not important just curious.

Well now I know why we don't get together very often. Shhhh, my head hurts .

GM , yes Hillsdown is for the area we are in . There was is a hall it might have been a school at one time, about 4 miles north west of us. There was the Hillsdown women's club that looked after it and had meetings there but I think that has been dissolved . I think there were wives of WW11 vets .

The seminar was really disappointing, the only thing I enjoyed and found educational was about epigenetics . Thought I would learn some new info about syncing and AI but the info was about 5 years old , nothing new .

Was shocked when I got home and found out we had 3 inches of rain from Wed to Thurs . Made kind of a mess but it will be a good thing if we can finally get some hot days , the hay and pastures aren't really doing anything . In hope all of you down south are safe , my heart goes out to you all having to be put in the same awful situation 2 years in a row .

Glad you are home safe, hillsdown. The hay here is very short, but we will start cutting Monday as the (short) alfalfa is starting to bloom.

I too, feel badly for those who have had too much rain. And for those who haven't had enough. We are borderline here. We get some right along, but not a lot and it has really been cool. Good for livin'.......not so much for growin'.

So what is epigenetics? I have never heard of that. I suppose it has something to do with genetics. Just a guess......... :D

Yes genetics , specifically chromatin chromosomes , structure histones ,imprinting and non coding DNA .

Things like accounting for missing heritability etc.

It was mostly about bull calves and the LH secretion ,age at puberty , semen quality and testicular characteristics .

She only spoke about it for an hour , I wish it was much longer . We are supposed to get the full study emailed to us at a later date . Needless to say genetics is a never ending study and much more needs to be done in cattle .
