This thread has given me the hives! Ya'll are sooooooo dang helpful it's un-freakin'-beeeliveable! A guy asks an innocent question looking for a little help from his pals and you just swarm me over with ideas. I was gonna send honey out as birthday presents to a bunch of smart butts but after your stinging rebukes i may have to reconsider! But i should'a known better than to offer honey to a bunch a skunks! I bet your all "pollen" for me in this endeavor! Thanks for all your help! Buttheads! :P

Yup we'll buzz on down, it will be a beehive of activity. I have a couple of sites that one of the local beekeepers keeps bees on H. It is the best of both worlds, all the honey I can eat and no extra work to sting you with. Put your hives on a pallet so you can move them if you want to. (using a bobcat) They give them protein cake in the spring and late fall and feed them sugar in the fall. They have about a mile range. That is about the extent of my bee experience. Beelieve it or not.

The sun came out yesterday and warmed from -35 to -10 and I noticed some bees woke up and came out and died. Lots of dead bees beside each hive.

I am also a smaller scale commercial beek and cattle producer. Our yards look simmilar to per's without the communal drum feeder. We feed each hive separate.

Beekeeping is an amazing thing. If you would like more information check out beesource forums. A weath of information.

And as a side note, beekeeping is paying for the bad habbit of keeping and loving cows...lol
