Went to the Sunday performance of the Bella Coola rodeo yesterday. took 1 picture at the top of the hill and camera batteries went dead. :(
Reloaded at the Hagensborg store and got some during the rodeo and the hill on the return trip.

Grade sign at the top. There is another halfway down that says 14%

This cowboy grew up with our boys and set a new arena record with this run of 3.4 seconds.

This little assoc. has trouble getting entries in bareback and saddle bronc, so if there are less than 8 entries they allow the riders to enter twice. Make for more rides to watch. This is not a good photo but this all around cowboy rode 2 bares, 2 broncs, 1 bull and made a dogging run in about 3 hours time. He is 47 years old and about 3/4 tough.

A bit of the local "wildlife". :D When he's sober he can outwork most men half his age still.

It was cloudy all day so made it difficult to get much for mountain pictures.
Looking west from the rodeo grounds.

Thanks for the driving tour...The local wildlife gave me a chuckle with his funky hat..and the "real" wildlife bear gave me chills...I'm just a little nervous to see bears that close..lol Just not use to them I guess...but all the mountain sceneries inbetween were beautiful...

That bear comment reminds me of a a bear I saw the other day. A red Angus colored cinnamon with a black face. Very pretty. I saw a red cinnamon last summer in the same place and was wondering if it could have got its black face over time or if they are different bears.

Great looking country in the summertime!!!! Was that a female hazer in the second picture?

Yes it is, she is a good hand in her own right. Her mother was killed in a steer undecorating accident when the steer ducked under her horse. She was killed instantly with a broken neck. This gal was in about the 8th or 9th grade when it happened, went on rodeoing and got her education and is now a teacher.
