Ty got his first moose license this year and the bulls only season opened today. We went to the end of a big cutblock and had the wind just perfect for us-we got up on a big ridge and glassed a moose about a half mile away. Emily and I stayed put and Ty put a stalk on it. He got within a 100 yards of it and was waiting to make sure it was a bull. Some quads started up aways off and pushed him off the ridge-he was right by that fallen poplar-Ty had to make a hard 200 yards to the top and missed him as he went through the willows at 250 yards. The plan was right but the moose gods weren't with us lol.

Pretty colours in the first pic, looks good no snow yet.Its really warm here today, greg and Lacey are spotting for deer and moose as we speak, daughters only home for a day or two between pipeline jobs. Looks like Emily is as much a girly girl as our daughter is.

Can tell the weather's gonna change in a couple days. We were discussing over coffee real early this morning, how we hadn't seen any bucks this fall. We went for a drive tonight to check on the recently moved cows, and saw 2 whitetails over 160. Lots of does and fawns out early too.

We had thousands of cranes going over yesterday morning. Couldn't hear any today for cows and calves bawling.

Yep--cranes going over here all day Sunday...They must have heard the weather boys forecast for snow Thursday night .....

We've had the Canadian geese in flocks, those stinkers are so noisy you hear them while in the house. I love a fall that turns out like this, tonight the cool weather smell mixed with the smoky field burning smell, the walk tonight in the field was soooo nice.Seen a big herd of deer in the pea field I walked through{shhhhh, don't tell greg}
