After all the hype on Broken Trail, I was disappointed. I didn't think it was even close to Lonesome Dove, Dances With Wolves or Open Range.
I think those 3 were among the best ever made. What do the rest of you think.

There is a western called "Purgatory". That is my favorite. With a close second in Lonesome Dove. I'm not one to read a book twice or watch a movie I've already seen, but these 2 movies I'll watch on any rainy day given half a chance.

We are takeing the kids to the drive in to see the movie "Cars" this weekend. I think they will enjoy that one. I'm looking forward to it as well. :D

We stopped at McDonalds after a barrel race last weekend.........I wasn't very hungry so I got a Happy Meal :D .......it had the lil Yellow car in it from the movie "Cars" .......I wanted the truck!!!! Lil Lilly went and asked if she could trade it for the truck, but they were all out   LOL

1}Lonesome Dove
2}Dances with Wolves
3}Last of Dogmen{Lilly,thx for reminder,I was telling greg we need to get this movie,loved it.}
4}Conagar

I love the tow truck from "CARS" my granson now owns it

Missing was another really good one...
And another Robert Duvall one,its pretty new, can't remember the name..Help

The good, the bad and the ugly....unforgiven....tombstone....also a laffer with blazing saddles.....

Purgatory... That is a different type of western.... Can't remember when I saw it, just remember seeing it abut 4 times and really liking it... Can't say that I am a particular fan of any western in particular.. Like most I see, like a lot of the Eastwood ones, no matter how unrealistic they are... Also like most of the Selleck ones I have seen,

I didn't get to watch much of "Broken Trail" but Mr. FH didn't think
it was in the league of Lonesome Dove.

Have any of you seen "The Good Ole' Boys"? Tommy Lee Jones
is really good in that flick.

Quigley Down Under is a classic at our house.

Second Hand Lions, I love that movie.

I thought Open Range left a little to be desired.
Also Monte Walsh, though it did star Tom Selleck.
The made for tv movies, Crossfire Trail and Last
Stand at Sabre Creek I thought were very good.

Heck, I'm so old if you want to talk about GREAT Westerns,
I can remember "The Magnificent Seven", "McClintock",
"Cat Ballou", "The Rounders". There were a lot of good
westerns produced in that era.

Thanks Faster...Open Range is name of movie I was looking for,I liked it.....But as I'm reading, theres not alot of westerns I don't like. Except for Purgatory,it was not my cup of tea.

Cliff Robertson Directed and Stared in "J.W. Coop"
I enjoyed the movie because many Scenes were from Real Life Arizona Rodeos (Prescott) over 2 or 3 years.

I was there :cboy: for the Swimming Pool scene - the Bar Fight and more - the last scene is from the National Finals (in Real Life) I was there for all these.

Just a :cboy: but I was there

When the Bar Fight broke out I was standing between the Cigarette Machine and a Phone Booth, watching the up-coming Storm Clouds Build. - - this gal was just coming out of the Cowgals Room and ended-up in the middle of it all - - I reach out and caught her then box-stalled her in the little hole behind me.

In the Movie someone (Cliff?) grabs a gal and 'Stalls-up' in the Phone Booth with 'er.

The Cowboy that walks up-to the band and says - "Think it's time for the National Anthem" worked for the Livestock Producer (I have another story about him if anyone want to hear it!)

Swimming Pool scene
The cowgal (girl A) picked the other gal (girl B) up 'over her head' and throughs her (gal B) in the swimming pool.

(gal A) was in Real Life Cliff's Sister-in-law as I recall - - anyway she (gal A) was the same cowgal in the movie.

A Good Movie (Score 8.5 out of 10)
