They have so little experience in actually seeing the ball cross the goal line, they will add cameras to know what happened?

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama -- The Big Ten is strongly considering experimenting with goal-line cameras at some football stadiums this season so instant replay officials can better review critical goal-line plays.

Big Ten coordinator of officials Bill Carollo said the conference is in discussions with its members and there's a "very strong possibility" there will be a trial run this season. Goal-line cameras were tested this spring at Michigan and Michigan State.

If the goal-line cameras are approved, they would probably move around to Big Ten stadiums in 2012. Should the Big Ten ever make the cameras permanent, they would be at every stadium and the cost would exceed $1 million, Carollo said.

If you want to get a picture of a Big 10 player being the best they can be, you put a camera at the goal line. If you want a picture of a SEC player being the best they can be, you put a camera where they get a "D" in "Lunch Studies".

The SEC's dominance isn't news to southern football fans, especially Alabamians. The state owns the last three BCS championship trophies, and the SEC defends its six-title streak this season.

But Alabama's Pulitzer Prize-winning author Rick Bragg, a writing professor at the University of Alabama, is helping the rest of the nation's college football fans understand why the South has played such a dominant role in the sport in an ESPN the Magazine article.

In the article, available now on ESPN.com, Bragg writes that he wishes "that we cared as deeply about other things here in my native South as we do football."

But, as his wife reminds him, southerners will stay crazy about football.

"We believe in our supremacy over all pretenders, upstarts and false prophets from the North, East, West and some heathen parts of Florida that are too sissy to mix it up with the real men of the SEC."

this is why I would love to see a Boisie State type destruction of and SEC team for the title..... the year they beat up OU... that deserved to be in a title game. but the "big boys club" keeps them out....

The SEC could easily be knocked off it's throne....................

All a team has to do is score more points.
