Big Mac was a huge boost to the Charolais breed. Angus cattle were short and dumpy in '72. Would barely average 300 lbs at weaning, and took forever to fatten.

We put Charolais bulls to our commercial herd soon after Big Mac and immediately gained 100 lbs. & more at weaning. Kept the chains busy but still worth it.

'Smoky" calves became all the rage at the steer shows and we couldn't raise enough to satisfy the 4-H & FFA market.
