LUBBOCK, Texas - Kansas State Head Coach Bill Snyder and some of his Wildcat Players discuss the game following the loss to Texas Tech.
Kansas State Head Coach Bill Snyder On his emotions after the game...
"I don't know that I've ever experienced a game exactly like this. I'm awfully disappointed. I've made some dramatic mistakes that put us in a position that made us perform like we did today. I think we're a little bit better football team than the outcome indicated. But we certainly didn't present ourselves that way today. I made a promise to many people that I would try to get this football team to be better week in and week out and we didn't get better today by any stretch of the imagination. We took some major steps backwards in all facets of our game."
On how you begin to repair the things that went wrong...
"Well I think you just have to start again. As I told our football team, a very, very brief message, was that we're halfway through the season and we just need to start again. I've let them down by not getting them better after they had made incremental progress throughout the course of the season and then took a tremendous nose dive. It's my responsibility to get them to become a better football team and that's exactly what we're going to set out to do beginning on Monday."
On Texas Tech scoring so quickly on the first two drives...
"I don't know if stunned would exactly be the word but we didn't respond to it very well on either side of the ball. We couldn't move the ball. They could have scored 500 points if the game would have gone long enough. There wasn't anything we could do to stop them and that's pretty disappointing."
On the role of the captains at a time like this...
"Well, I think that's always been a significant role of the seniors in your program. We strive to enhance our leadership throughout the course of the season. It's been an uphill battle but we'll see. They're in a position right now where, either somebody steps up or we take a deeper dive in the tank. We'll see how they respond. I'd like to think that we have some young people that truly are pained by this and certainly don't want it to happen again and who want us to continue to improve as we had previously. We'll make an attempt to display the leadership that would help guide our football team in that direction."
Wide Receiver Brandon Banks
On whether this game is tough to put behind him...
"Oh yeah, it's already put behind me as far as I go. We've got to learn from our mistakes and go back to work on Monday."
On where to start of K-State's mistakes in the game...
"I think we have to do some soul searching first. (We need to) start our soul searching and go out and give it all we've got from now on. Every time we get a chance to get out on the field we need to do the best that we can."
On what questions he might ask when soul searching...
"We are going to give our all the rest of the season when we have a game like this. Are we going to bounce back and do the things we know we are capable of doing?"
Defensive Back Joshua Moore
On playing an offense like Texas Tech's...
"I feel like Texas Tech game planned and they were well prepared. I can't take anything away from them. They are a great offense, and we harped about that all week. I feel like we didn't show up."
On whether the defense wore down as the game progressed...
"I wouldn't say wear down, I'd just say Texas Tech, their scheme is really good. It seemed like everything we were in, they came out and were ready for that. They came in real prepared."
Defensive Lineman Jeffrey Fitzgerald
On how devastating the first half was...
"It was really frustrating. They punted one time the entire game, so we've got to do better."
On the pass rush...
"We didn't get there nearly as much as we should have and that put a lot of stress on our defensive backs, so we are going to go out there come Monday really focusing on trying to get better."
On the most disappointing aspect in the game...
"I don't think there is one particular thing. The whole game we didn't play to our capabilities. Texas Tech came out there and had a great plan against us. They executed well, and we didn't. Point blank, they just beat us very bad."
