Ty's highschool football team is playing it's biggest game since they brought football back four years ago. We have a chance to make playoffs after beating archrival Lloydminister 26-21 on Friday. Were back in LLoyd on this Friday and if we win or lose by less than six were in the playoffs. It's a good young team-only four seniors on it so hopefully the boys pull it off. As his hockey coach I hate to see him playing football while our season is on but I have three other kids playing both sports. The joys of small town athletics. His special teams coach is his rodeo sponsor too lol.

Good luck NR. If a close loss is a win, that presents a real game planning quandry. I bet its getting plenty fresh up there for football. How does hockey compare with football for risk of injuries (Severe enough you can't play through them)?

Well Ty plays football-running back-hockey and rides bulls and broncs. Football is by far the worse for getting cheap shots-helmets to the knees after the play etc-in fact he doesn't practice very much trying to save his knee for game days. The only hockey games he's missed were from football injuries. He plays pretty physical in both but has a pretty good pain threshold. The hits are harder in hockey but if you keep your head up it's harder to get hurt-most guys you see get lit up-are skating around like a Novice looking at the puck. As for not getting hurt in rodeo yet-he's in pretty good shape but has been lucky so far too. This team we have to beat is the one who has taken a shot at his knee the last two years-their local paper also said it was nothing but luck we beat them so motivation won't be a factor. Were getting Indian Summer right now so the weather is perfect for football.

Funny you mention this. Was at the Vet School at Auburn a few months back and one of the girls who works there also coaches golf.

Anyway, she was telling us about all the serious injuries to shoulders and backs on the golf team.

She said they had to hire more assistant trainers to keep up with all the rehab.

Whodathunkit!

I played rugby and wrestled for years, with few serious injuries. Now on the other hand, my favorite passtime was pulling wrenches and I've sustained some nasty injuries doing that.

Well we did it-were playoff bound. Here is Ty taking it on a reverse.

Score says it all-they scored with two seconds left when we had all rookies on the field. Ty had a good game-165 yards rushing-a touchdown and a fumble recovery. We meet Delisle on Tuesday should be a good one.

Those boys have been waiting a long time for this-it's our QB's last year-he's that little number 12 in the picture but he plays big-I hope they can win one more for him. The teachers that coach the boys are doing a great job-I'm lucky enough to ride the bus as I do the football reports for the local paper-we watch '300' just about every trip to help get pumped. Our team name is 'Spartans'.

Congrats - did Ty drill that # 11 DB on that first pic. Ty has good size and looks like he runs downhill with his head up - 165 yards is a huge game.

Ty taking it to the house.

Ok but which house is yours NR?..LOL. :)

Looks like a scholarship in his future..Good work Ty and goodluck in winning it all this year...I hope the weather stays fan friendly NR.... :)

I don't think Ty is quite football scholarship material-the other back-26- is an incredible athlete-VERY fast.Ty's role is more of a blocker and yes he does crunch guys pretty well lol. 26 scored three touchdowns the last game so the Raiders were keying on him outside-our coaches went to Tyler inside and it went ok. Our fullback is a truck and he had a great game too. Ty's knee kind of holds him back-he sees an orthopedic surgeon next week to see if there is anything we can do about it. They have good team chemistry which helps more than you can imagine. The thing I like about football is it gives boys who aren't fast enough etc for other sports a chance to get into athletics. This extended season is screwing up my hockey team though-there are four of my AA players on the football team.

Well Ty goit a surprise yesterday at practice-the backup QB is gone to Irel;and of all places for his sister's wedding so Ty is the new backup QB. He took some repititions but trust me he's praying for the health and safety of the starter.

NR now that Canadian schools can give out football scholarships there are a whole lot more opportunities to get a cheap education out there. My old school has a lot of players from the west this year. Some of them are real projects but they're getting their tuition out of it.
