I reading the news this morning about the bear atatcks in BC .

A B.C. man is in serious condition in a Victoria hospital after he was attacked by a grizzly bear on B.C.'s Central Coast.

The attack Monday morning occurred while the man was picking berries in the Oweekeno area, near Rivers Inlet, about 350 kilometres northwest of Vancouver.

The attack follows the discovery Thursday of the remains of a woman that had been eaten by bears near Lillooet, B.C., north of Whistler

Great pics !

Owikeeno Lake used to be a prime guide area once owned by Clayton Mack, world reknowned grizzly guide of Bella Coola BC.

The area traded hands a couple of times, BC Min. of Environment kept cutting back quota until the area was bought by environmentalist groups about 15 years ago. While there are a small amount of LEH tags awarded in the Burke Inlet/ Bella Coola valley, the bear population has exploded and most bears have lost their fear/respect for humans.
This is only going to become a bigger problem if more hunting is not allowed.
While we haven't had predation on our cattle since 2008, we have as many or more grizzlies here as then and it is only a matter of time until one or more turn to killing cattle for a living. Until then we'll live and let live. A non-killer keeps the others away. At the moment we have 2 single grizzlies and 1 sow with cubs living within a 2 mile circle of our house.

He tends to hang out in that 2 miles as well. Deb might however call him an old bore, but like the other kind of bears she will likely not bother him until he causes trouble.

You two are definately not the kind of friends that would bail a guy out of jail, you'd be sitting in the cell right beside me. :p
