Blue Heeler

I live and work on some property in Oregon. I need to know if a Blue Heeler is "built" to be outdoors(in an enclosed run with shed)I've put carpet and a thick sleeping bag on a pallet off the cement floor. She is not my dog and he owners of the place won't let me bring her in the trailer with me I am praying someone can put my mind at ease here on this forum. Is she safe from freezing to death. It is 21 degrees here, the worst Ive seen.

Please no "opinions" just give me the straight stuff if you have it. I appreciate anyone who can help me.

Ok they are tough dogs.

Now if the dog is shivering it is cold. Look into getting a heated dog bed if you are that concerned.
Sounds like you did it right and watch for shivering and make sure she has plenty of water.
Husbands blue heeler loved being outside even when it was below zero, but he also liked to be inside when the windchill was really nasty.

Are you talking about it being 21 above zero or below zero? My 2 corgi pups are outside playing in the snow at 8 below zero.

oh thanks for answering, yes, above zero, it's 19 now. There is no wind. She is real healthy and runs around with me all day. When I go up in the a.m. she is never shivering, I always hug and mug her to see if she feels like she is cold. The owners say that she is used to the cold. I just didn't know and could not find one single thing online about heelers saying "how cold" are they built for. I will keep a close eye on her and I am so grateful you took the time to reply to me I think I will stick around this forum as I may have other questions. God bless, denise in Oregon

Instead of a heated dog bed....I'd be afraid they'd chew the thing up, we always put a light in their dog house. Along with carpet or an old blanket. That way they can snuggle up and stay warm on cold nights. Especially helps if there's any moisture, the light will help dry them.

and that is doable. There is a light but it is in the next room of the shed. Im sure we can rig it so we can extend one into moochees area. Thank you much, they have gone to get the straw-bale. I've made up my mind to sleep out there with her and see how she is at night.
