Do you recognize this plant and do you have it on your range?

I believe it is a wild lupine. It hasn't bloomed yet, but the foliage
certainly looks like wild lupine. Sometimes they don't bloom on
the prairie.

Looks like a Bluebonnet, aka the Blue Lupine.

Can't think of the name, but is this the one that has a root that the Native Americans used in fry bread? If it is the same plant, they say the root is similar to a potato.

Yes, we have it on our range here in NW South Dakota. Have noticed more of it this year, too. We've had lots of moisture, so maybe that's why. I wonder if it used to be more plentiful, an Indian would have had to cover lots of country to dig up enough for a family of 5!
