Hello

I was just wondering if anyone had any advice for us. we are going to be stating a farm and i dont have any idea where to start. anyone have any tips??? :???:

thanks joey

That's not much information.
What type of farming? Crops? Rotational? Animals? equipment? Acreage?

we can't give you any tips if we don't know what you are doing or what your plans are.

Welcome.
Pay attention to your neighbours, listen a lot, seek out information but filter it through your own experience and knowledge.
Don't get tied into "this is the way you do it". Your creativity is your only limit.
If your neighbours think you are nuts then you are probably on the right track.
Farming and Ranching has millions of possibilities (most of them exciting).

Find a good Psychologist!

Just joking, Welcome.

Welcome to the boards! You may very well end up to be highly successful at farming because as a newbie, you have no preconceived notions about what you can do or what you can't. You'll be open-minded enough to try anything.

Regardless of what you want to do, I'll tell you this : Always remember that whether you grow crops, vegetables, grass or livestock, you are a Food Producer. Be aware that it is your responsibility to make your products as safe and nutritious as possible.

Get books and read, that's a great place to start.

I happen to be a consultant for just such a situation.... p.m. me and we can discuss my fee, and my requirements for room and board as I help you get started. of course I will need a new pickup, laptop computer, and a new pair of pliers.

I live by two rules. never use google, and do not buy Ankony Angus. those are my keys to sucess.

 my love to Kola

It is an interesting way to make a living and if you want to ask questions there is an amazing and varied store of opinion here, not to mention that most of it is based on knowledge of the industry. :???:

Give a basic description of what you are starting with...then ask specific questions.

And ignore the fear mongers!
