Branding season pictures

Well it's rapidly approaching that time of year when branding a start happening. I was thinking it might be fun to all post pictures of our own brandings as well as other we may attend. And if ya have older pictures from yesteryear that's great too. In our part of the world we help neighbors as much as we can. It's a social event and the first sign spring has arrived. So snap some pics and post them up

I got a call on Monday the first one of the year is this Saturday. Here is a picture for that branding last year.

We are headed for the neighbors place Saturday as well. He called and wants to put the kids to work. Said he wouldn't pay me but I could sit in the truck if I promised not to bark.

Bark anyway. He wont tell you to leave because he will want the kids to stay. Can't get kicked out of a branding if you bring good help. But if the kids were to drive themselves.......

I can't say these are pics of branding but the calves who will get branded today around 2:30 pm

I went to a branding today. Took the camera. Left it on the seat of the pickup and forgot about it. Oh well, there is another branding tomorrow. One in the middle of the week. Then next Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. The biggest number wise guy hasn't scheduled one yet. He will do two or three days worth. There another one who was there today and said nothing about when they will brand. And there is this little bunch here. There is about 60 out of 82 with calves on the ground. Where they are going to get turned out, we won't be turning out any slicks. As the saying goes, trust your neighbors but brand your calves.

My kids helped at a branding today but didn't take pictures either. I had to make a trip into town. Wish I'd stayed and helped brand.

We worked our bunch of cows and calves today. Dang wind was steady all afternoon which makes for not much fun. But we got them done. Vaccinated the cows and did pour on wormer. Vaccinated, wormed, banded bulls and branded the calves. Had great help so it went smoothly.
